천국과 지옥 사이의 균형은 천국이나 지옥에 들어가는 사람의 수효에 따라 올라가거나 내려간다. 그 수효는 하루에도 수천 명이 된다. The equilibrium between the heavens and the hells is diminished or increased in accordance with the number of those who enter heaven and who enter hell; and this amounts to several thousands daily.

그 전체를 다 알고 파악하고, 정확히 조절하고, 균형을 맞추는 일은 어떤 천사도 할 수 없고, 오직 주님만이 하실 수 있다. 주님으로부터 나오는 신성은 어디에나 계시고, 치우치는 곳이 어딘지 전부 보실 수 있기 때문이다. 천사는 자기 근처만을 볼 수 있고, 자기 공동체 안에서 일어나는 일들조차 알지 못한다. The Lord alone, and no angel, can know and perceive this, and regulate and equalize it with precision; for the Divine that goes forth from the Lord is omnipresent, and sees everywhere whether there is any wavering, while an angel sees only what is near himself, and has no perception in himself of what is taking place even in his own society.
