주께서 지옥을 다스리신다

영계에서는 선에서 비롯된 진리가 모든 능력의 근원이고, 악에서 비롯된 허위에는 그 어떤 능력도 없다. 천국의 신성 자체가 신적 선과 신적 진리이시고, 모든 능력은 신성에 속한 것이기 때문이다. 악에서 비롯된 허위에 아무 힘도 없는 것은, 능력의 근원이 선에서 비롯된 진리인데 악에서 비롯된 허위 안에는 선에서 비롯된 진리가 하나도 없기 때문이다. 따라서 천국에 모든 능력이 있고, 지옥에는 아무 능력도 없다. 천국에서는 모두가 선에서 비롯된 진리 안에 있고, 지옥에서는 모두가 악에서 비롯된 허위 안에 있기 때문이다. 아무도 선에서 비롯된 진리 안에 있지 않고는 천국에 들어가지 못하고, 또 악에서 비롯된 허위 안에 있지 않으면 지옥에 떨어지지 않기 때문이다. 이에 대해서는 사람의 사후 첫째, 둘째, 셋째 상태를 다룬 장(491–520항)에서 볼 수 있다. 그리고 선에서 비롯된 진리에 모든 능력이 있음은 천국 천사들의 능력에 관한 장(228–233항)에서 볼 수 있다. In the spiritual world truth from good is the source of all power, and falsity from evil has no power whatever. This is because the Divine itself in heaven is Divine good and Divine truth, and all power belongs to the Divine. Falsity from evil is powerless because truth from good is the source of all power, and in falsity from evil there is nothing of truth from good. Consequently in heaven there is all power, and none in hell; for everyone in heaven is in truths from good, and everyone in hell is in falsities from evil. For no one is admitted into heaven until he is in truths from good, neither is anyone cast down into hell until he is in falsities from evil.
