모든 사람의 삶의 즐거움은 사후 그것이 상응하는 것으로 바뀐다

The Delights of Every One’s Life Are Changed after Death into Things That Correspond

사람이 느끼는 모든 즐거움은 그의 주된 사랑에서 오는 즐거움이다. 사람은 자기가 사랑하는 것이 아니면 아무 것도 즐겁게 느껴지지 않기 때문이다. 가장 사랑하는 것의 경우 특히 더 그렇다. 주된 사랑이라고 하든지, 사람이 가장 사랑하는 것이라고 하든지 의미는 똑같다. 즐거움의 종류는 다양하다. 전체적으로 말하면, 주된 사랑의 수만큼 많은 즐거움이 있다. 그러므로 사람과 영과 천사의 숫자만큼 즐거움의 종류가 있는 것이다. 모든 면에서 누구의 주된 사랑도 다른 사람의 것과 같지 않기 때문이다. 그렇기 때문에 아무도 다른 사람과 완전히 똑같은 얼굴이 아닌 것이다. 얼굴은 마음의 형상이고, 영계에서는 그의 주된 사랑의 형상이기 때문이다. 세부적으로 말하면, 모든 사람의 즐거움은 무한히 다양하다. 어떤 즐거움도 다른 것과 완전히 닮거나 똑같지 않다. 차례로 일어나든, 동시에 일어나든, 어떤 즐거움도 다른 것과 같을 수 없다. 그럼에도 각 사람의 모든 세세한 즐거움은 그의 주된 사랑이라고 하는 단 하나의 사랑에 연관되어 있다. 그 즐거움들이 주된 사랑을 구성하고, 주된 사랑과 하나가 되어 있기 때문이다. 마찬가지로 모든 일반적인 즐거움도 단 하나의 보편적인 주된 사랑에 연관되어 있다. 천국에서는 그것이 주님을 향한 사랑이고, 지옥에서는 자기 사랑이다. All the delights that a man has are the delights of his ruling love, for he feels nothing to be delightful except what he loves, thus especially that which he loves above all things. It means the same whether you say the ruling love or that which is loved above all things. These delights are various. In general, there are as many as there are ruling loves; consequently as many as there are men, spirits, and angels; for no one’s ruling love is in every respect like that of another. For this reason no one has a face exactly like that of any other; for each one’s face is an image of his mind; and in the spiritual world it is an image of his ruling love. In particular, everyone’s delights are of infinite variety. It is impossible for any one delight to be exactly like another, or the same as another, either those that follow one after another or those that exist together at the same time, no one ever being the same as another. Nevertheless, the particular delights in everyone have reference to his one love, which is his ruling love, for they compose it and thus make one with it. Likewise all delights in general have reference to one universally ruling love, which in heaven is love to the Lord, and in hell is the love of self.
