천국의 결혼

Marriages in Heaven

한 남편과 여러 아내 사이에도 결혼애가 있을 수 없다. 결혼애의 근원은 두 마음이 하나를 이루는 것인데, 그것이 파괴되고 그에 따라 결혼애의 본질인 내적 결합, 즉 선과 진리의 결합도 파괴되기 때문이다. 한 사람 이상과 결혼하는 것은, 여러 의지로 나뉜 사고력에 비유할 수 있다. 또 사람이 한 교회, 교단, 교파가 아니라 여러 교회, 교단, 교파를 기웃거려 그 신앙이 분산되고, 결국 실체 없는 신앙이 된 경우와 같다. 여러 아내와 결혼하는 것은 신적 질서에 완전히 반대되는 것이라고 천사들은 단언했다. 그들이 이것을 아는 것은 여러 이유에서인데, 그 중 하나는 다음과 같다. 그들이 한 사람 이상과의 결혼이라는 개념을 떠올리는 즉시 내적 축복과 천국적 행복이 사라지고 술 취한 사람같이 된다는 것이다. 그들 안의 선과 진리가 분리되기 때문이다. 그 개념을 약간의 의향만 갖고 생각하기만 해도 그들 마음의 내면이 그런 상태가 된다는 사실은, 한 사람 이상과의 결혼이 내적 마음을 닫아버리고, 결혼을 정욕적 사랑으로 바꿔놓아 천국에서 멀어지게 만든다주246는 분명한 증거라고 그들은 말했다. Nor is true marriage love possible between one husband and several wives; for its spiritual origin, which is the formation of one mind out of two, is thus destroyed; and in consequence interior conjunction, which is the conjunction of good and truth, from which is the very essence of that love, is also destroyed. Marriage with more than one is like an understanding divided among several wills; or it is like a man attached not to one but to several churches, since his faith is so distracted thereby as to come to naught. The angels declare that marrying several wives is wholly contrary to Divine order, and that they know this from several reasons, one of which is that as soon as they think of marriage with more than one they are alienated from internal blessedness and heavenly happiness, and become like drunken men, because good is separated from its truth in them. And as the interiors of their mind are brought into such a state merely by thinking about it with some intention, they see clearly that marriage with more than one would close up their internal mind, and cause marriage to be displaced by lustful love, which love withdraws from heaven.246

 

[2] 천사들은 나아가서 이렇게 말했다. 사람들이 이것을 쉽게 이해하지 못하는 것은 참된 결혼애 안에 있는 사람이 거의 없기 때문이며, 그 사랑 안에 있지 않은 사람은 그 사랑에 담긴 내적 기쁨을 조금도 알지 못하고, 단지 정욕의 즐거움만을 알기 때문이다. 그 정욕의 즐거움이란 것은 잠시 같이 살고 나면 곧 즐겁지 않은 것으로 변한다. 반면 진정한 결혼애는 이 세상 노년에 이르기까지 지속될 뿐 아니라 사후에 천국의 즐거움으로 바뀌고, 영원토록 점점 더 완벽해지는 내적 기쁨으로 채워진다. 천사들은 또 진정한 결혼애의 다양한 축복은 수천 가지가 넘는데 사람은 그중 한 가지도 알지 못하며, 주님으로부터 오는 선과 진리의 결합 안에 있지 않은 사람은 아무도 그 축복을 이해할 수 없다고 말했다. They declare further that this is not easily comprehended by men because there are few who are in genuine marriage love, and those who are not in it know nothing whatever of the interior delight that is in that love, knowing only the delight of lust, and this delight is changed into what is undelightful after living together a short time; while the delight of true marriage love not only endures to old age in the world, but after death becomes the delight of heaven and is there filled with an interior delight that grows more and more perfect to eternity. They said also that the varieties of blessedness of true marriage love could be enumerated even to many thousands, not even one of which is known to man, or could enter into the comprehension of anyone who is not in the marriage of good and truth from the Lord.

 

 

주246. 남편과 아내는 하나여야 하고, 삶의 가장 내적 상태를 함께 살아야 하며, 그리고 함께 천국에서 한 천사를 이루는 것처럼, 한 남편과 여러 아내 간에는 참된 결혼애라는 게 있을 수 없다 (AC.1907, 2740). As husband and wife should be one, and should live together in the inmost of life, and as they together make one angel in heaven, so true marriage love is impossible between one husband and several wives (n. 1907, 2740). 동시에 여러 아내와 결혼하는 것은 신적 질서에 반(反)하는 짓이다(AC.10837). To marry several wives at the same time is contrary to Divine order (n. 10837). 한 남편과 한 아내 간 외에 무슨 결혼이라는 건 없다는 사실은 주님의 천적 나라에 사는 사람들한테는 분명히 지각되는 사실이다 (AC.865, 3246, 9002, 10172). That there is no marriage except between one husband and one wife is clearly perceived by those who are in the Lord’s celestial kingdom (n. 865, 3246, 9002, 10172). 천사들에게 선과 진리 간 결혼이 있는 이유(AC.3246) For the reason that the angels there are in the marriage of good and truth (n. 3246). 이스라엘 민족은 여러 아내를 두고, 아내들에게 첩, 그러니까 여종까지 두게 하였지만, 그리스도인들은 다르다. 그 민족은 속과 분리된 겉의 나라였지만, 그리스도인들은 속, 그러니까 내적 나라로 들어갈 수 있고, 그렇게 해서 선과 진리의 결혼으로 들어갈 수 있기 때문이다 (AC.3246, 4837, 8809). The Israelitish nation were permitted to marry several wives, and to add concubines to wives, but not Christians, for the reason that that nation was in externals separate from internals, while Christians are able to enter into internals, thus into the marriage of good and truth (n. 3246, 4837, 8809).
