천국의 지혜로운 사람과 단순한 사람

The Wise and the Simple in Heaven

그러나 지식과 학문을 통해 지성과 지혜를 얻은 사람들은 이와 다르다. 그들은 배운 모든 것을 생활상의 쓰임에 적용했고, 동시에 신을 인정하고, 말씀을 사랑하고, 영적 도덕적 삶을 산 사람들이다(319항 참조). 이런 사람들에게는 배움이 지혜를 얻는 도구로 쓰였고, 신앙의 내용을 확증하는 데 쓰였다. 이 사람들의 정신의 내부가 내게 지각되었는데, 마치 반투명한 다이아몬드, 루비, 사파이어처럼 광채 나는 흰색, 불꽃같은 색, 파란 색의 빛에 투명하게 비쳐 보였다. 이것은 그들이 배운 것에서 이끌어 낸, 신과 신적 진리를 지지하는 신념에 따라 그렇게 나타난다. 이것이 영계에서 눈에 보이는 진정한 지성과 지혜의 외관이다. 이 외관은 천국의 빛에서 파생되고, 그 빛은 주님으로부터 나오는 신적 진리이며, 그것이 모든 지성과 지혜의 근원이다 (126–133항). But in respect to those that have acquired intelligence and wisdom through knowledge and science, who are such as have applied all things to the use of life, and have also acknowledged the Divine, loved the Word, and lived a spiritual moral life (of which above, n. 319), to such the sciences have served as a means of becoming wise, and also of corroborating the things pertaining to faith. The interiors of the mind of such have been perceived by me, and were seen as transparent from light of a glistening white, flamy, or blue color, like that of translucent diamonds, rubies, and sapphires; and this in accordance with confirmations in favor of the Divine and Divine truths drawn from science. Such is the appearance of true intelligence and wisdom when they are presented to view in the spiritual world. This appearance is derived from the light of heaven; and that light is Divine truth going forth from the Lord, which is the source of all intelligence and wisdom (see above, n. 126–133).

 

[2] 그 빛이 닿는 면에는 색깔의 다양함 같은 다채로움이 있다. 그 닿는 면은 사람 정신의 내면이고, 그 양한 색채는 신적 진리를 자연계에 속한 사실들, 즉 학문을 통해 확증하는 데 따라 생겨난다.주232 그 이유는 사람의 내적 마음은 자연적 기억의 내용물들을 살펴보고, 거기서 내면을 입증할 만한 것은 천국 사랑의 불로 순화, 고양, 정결하게 하여 영적 관념이 되게 하기 때문이다. 사람이 육신을 입고 사는 동안은 영적으로 생각하는 동시에 자연적으로 생각하기 때문에 이것을 알지 못하고, 자기가 영적으로 생각하는 것을 의식하지 못한 채, 단지 자연적 생각만을 의식한다. 그러나 사람이 영계에 들어가면, 그가 이 세상에 있을 때 했던 자연적 생각들은 전혀 알지 못하고, 단지 영적으로 생각한 것만 의식하게 된다. 이렇게 사람의 상태가 변화된다. The planes of that light, in which variegations like those of colors exist, are the interiors of the mind; and these variegations are produced by confirmations of Divine truths by means of such things as are in nature, that is, in the sciences.232 For the interior mind of man looks into the things of the natural memory, and the things there that will serve as proofs it sublimates as it were by the fire of heavenly love, and withdraws and purifies them even into spiritual ideas. This is unknown to man as long as he lives in the body, because there he thinks both spiritually and naturally, and he has no perception of the things he then thinks spiritually, but only of those he thinks naturally. But when he has come into the spiritual world he has no perception of what he thought naturally in the world, but only of what he thought spiritually. Thus is his state changed.

 

[3] 이상의 내용으로 분명해지는 것은, 사람이 영적으로 되는 것은 지식과 학문을 통해서이고, 또 지식과 학문은 지혜로워지는 방편인데, 단 이것은 신앙과 생활 속에서 신을 인정하는 사람들에게만 해당된다는 사실이다. 이런 사람들은 다른 사람보다 먼저 천국에 들어가게 되고, 천국 안에서도 중심부에 있다(43항 참조). 그들이 다른 사람들보다 더 밝은 빛 안에 있기 때문이다. 이런 사람들이 바로 천국에서 ‘궁창의 빛과 같이 빛나는’, 그리고 ‘별과 같이 빛나는’ 지성 있고 지혜로운 사람들이다. 한편 천국의 단순한 사람들은 신을 인정하고, 말씀을 사랑했으며, 영적이고 도덕적 생활을 했지만, 그들 정신의 내면을 지식과 학문으로 그다지 계발하지 않은 사람들이다. 사람의 정신은 흙과 같아서 일구는 데 따라 달라지는 것이다. All this makes clear that it is by means of knowledges and sciences that man is made spiritual, also that these are the means of becoming wise, but only with those who have acknowledged the Divine in faith and life. Such also before others are accepted in heaven, and are among those there who are at the center (n. 43), because they are in light more than others. These are the intelligent and wise in heaven, who “shine as with the brightness of the firmament” and who “shine as the stars,” while the simple there are those that have acknowledged the Divine, have loved the Word, and have lived a spiritual and moral life, but the interiors of their minds have not been so enriched by knowledges and sciences. The human mind is like soil which is such as it is made by cultivation.

Colors in heaven are from the light there, and are modifications or variegations of that light (n. 1042, 1043, 1053, 1624, 3993, 4530, 4742, 4922). 그래서 천국의 색들은 선으로 말미암은 진리들의 나타남이며, 지성과 지혜에 관한 것들에 대한 상징이다 (AC.4530, 4677, 4922, 9466). Thus they are manifestations of truth from good, and they signify such things as pertain to intelligence and wisdom (n. 4530, 4677, 4922, 9466).
