천국과 지옥은 인류로 말미암는다

Heaven and Hell Are from the Human Race

천국이 인류로 구성된다는 것은 천사의 마음과 사람의 마음이 비슷하다는 데서도 알 수 있다. 둘 다 사고, 지각, 의지 능력이 있으며, 둘 다 천국을 받을 수 있는 형태로 되어 있다. 사람 마음은 천사의 마음과 똑같이 지혜로워질 수 있다. 만일 이 세상에서 그런 지혜를 얻지 못한다 해도 그것는 물질적인 몸 안에 있기 때문이며, 영적인 마음이 육체 안에서는 자연적으로 생각하게 되기 때문이다. 그러나 일단 마음이 육체의 속박에서 벗어나면 사정은 달라진다. 그때는 더 이상 자연적으로 생각하지 않고 영적으로 생각하며, 영적으로 생각하게 되면 그 생각들은 자연적인 사람으로서는 이해나 표현이 불가능한 것이 된다. 따라서 그 마음은 천사와 동등해진다. 이상으로 사람의 내면, 즉 그의 영혼이라 불리는 것은 그 본질에 있어서 천사라는 것을 알 수 있을 것이다 (57항).주217 그리고 육신의 속박에서 벗어나도 천사와 마찬가지로 사람 형상인 것이다. (천사가 완벽한 사람 모습임은 73-77항에 나와 있다) 그러나 사람의 내면이 위로 열리지 않고 아래로만 열려 있으면, 육신을 벗고 난 후에, 그도 사람 모습이긴 하지만 끔찍하고 악마적인 모습이 된다. 그 내면은 천국을 올려다보는 것이 불가능하고, 오직 지옥 쪽을 내려다보는 것만 가능하기 때문이다. That heaven is from the human race can be seen also from the fact that angelic minds and human minds are alike, both enjoying the ability to understand, perceive and will, and both formed to receive heaven; for the human mind is just as capable of becoming wise as the angelic mind; and if it does not attain to such wisdom in the world it is because it is in an earthly body, and in that body its spiritual mind thinks naturally. But it is otherwise when the mind is loosed from the bonds of that body; then it no longer thinks naturally, but spiritually, and when it thinks spiritually its thoughts are incomprehensible and ineffable to the natural man; thus it becomes wise like an angel, all of which shows that the internal part of man, called his spirit, is in its essence an angel (see above, n. 57);217 and when loosed from the earthly body is, equally with the angel, in the human form. (That an angel is in a complete human form may be seen above, n. 73–77.) When, however, the internal of man is not open above but only beneath, it is still, after it has been loosed from the body, in a human form, but a horrible and diabolical form, for it is able only to look downwards toward hell, and not upwards toward heaven.

 

 

주217. 천국이 복수로 있는 것처럼 사람의 생명도 무척 다양하다. 천국은 사람의 사후 그의 생명에 맞는 천국으로 열린다 (AC.3747, 9594). There are as many degrees of life in man as there are heavens, and they are opened after death in accordance with his life (n. 3747, 9594). 천국은 사람 안에 있다 (AC.3884). Heaven is in man (n. 3884). 사랑과 체어리티의 삶을 사는 사람들은 그들 안에 천사의 지혜가 있다. 비록 지금은 이 지혜가 감춰져 있지만, 사후 그들은 그 지혜 안으로 들어간다 (AC.2494). Men who are living a life of love and charity have in them angelic wisdom, although it is for the time hidden, but they come into that wisdom after death (n. 2494). 주님으로부터 사랑과 신앙의 선을 받는 사람을 일컬어 말씀에서는 천사라 한다 (AC.10528). The man who receives from the Lord the good of love and of faith is called in the Word an angel (n. 10528).
