천국과 사람 간 말씀에 의한 결합

Conjunction of Heaven with Man By Means of the Word

이 지구상에 이런 종류의 말씀이 주어지지 않았다면 지구 사람들은 천국과의 연결이 끊어졌을 것이고, 천국과 분리되었더라면 이성을 상실하게 되었을 것이다. 사람의 이성은 천국 빛의 입류로 인해 생기기 때문이다. 또 지구인들은 직접 계시를 받을 수 없고, 따라서 직접 계시를 통해 신적 진리를 배울 수 없다. 그러나 다른 행성 사람들은 그것이 가능하다. 이들에 대해서는 따로 작은 책에 기록했다. 지구 사람들은 그 사람들보다 더 세상적인 일에 빠져 있어 더 외적이기 때문이다. 계시를 받아들이는 것은 내적인 차원이다. 외적 차원으로 받아들이면 계시를 이해할 수 없다. 교회 다니는 사람들의 본질을 보면, 이 지구 사람들의 속성을 확실히 알 수 있다. 그들은 비록 말씀에서 배워 천국과 지옥, 사후의 삶에 대해 알고는 있지만, 마음속으로는 그것을 부인한다. 여기에는 학식으로 이름난 사라들, 즉 남보다 더 지혜롭다고 하는 사람들도 포함된다. Unless such a Word had been given on this earth the man of this earth would have been separated from heaven; and if separated from heaven he would have ceased to be rational, for the human rational exists by an influx of the light of heaven. Again, the man of this earth is such that he is not capable of receiving direct revelation and of being taught about Divine truths by such revelation, as the inhabitants of other earths are, that have been especially described in another small work. For the man of this earth is more in worldly things, that is, in externals, than the men of other earths, and it is internal things that are receptive of revelation; if it were received in external things the truth would not be understood. That such is the man of this earth is clearly evident from the state of those who are within the church, which is such that while they know from the Word about heaven, about hell, about the life after death, still in heart they deny these things; although among them there are some who have acquired a preeminent reputation for learning, and who might for that reason be supposed to be wiser than others.
