천국과 인류의 결합

The Conjunction of Heaven with the Human Race

각 사람에게는 선한 영들과 악한 영들이 와있다. 선한 영들을 통해서는 사람은 천국과 결합되고, 악한 영들을 통해서는 지옥과 결합된다. 이 영들은 천국과 지옥 사이에 놓여 있는 중간 영계에 있다. 이곳에 대해서는 앞으로 특별히 다룰 것이다. 이 영들이 사람에게 오면 사람의 기억 전체 안으로 들어가고, 그렇게 해서 생각 전체에 들어간다. 이때 악한 영은 사람의 악한 기억과 생각 속으로, 선한 영은 선한 기억과 생각 속으로 들어간다. 이 영들은 자기들이 사람과 같이 있다는 것을 전혀 의식하지 못한다. 그들이 사람과 같이 있을 때, 그 사람의 모든 기억과 생각이 자기 것인 줄 안다. 또 그들에게는 그 사람이 보이지 않는다. 우리 태양계 내의 것은 아무 것도 그들 시각에 들지 않기 때문이다.주204 주께서는 영들이 자기가 사람과 같이 있다는 것을 알지 못하도록 각별히 배려하신다. 만일 그들이 알아차리면 사람에게 말을 걸 것이고, 그렇게 되면 악한 영의 경우, 사람을 파괴하려 들기 때문이다. 악한 영들은 지옥과 결합되어 있으므로, 그들이 가장 바라는 것은 바로 사람의 영혼을, 즉 그의 신앙과 사랑을 파괴하고, 사람의 몸까지도 파괴하는 것이기 때문이다. 그러나 영들이 사람과 대화를 하지 않으면 그런 일이 없다. 이 경우, 그들은 자기의 말과 생각이 사람에게서 온 것임을 의식하지 못하기 때문이다. 그들이 서로 나누는 말도 사람에게서 온 것인데도 그들은 자기가 하는 생각과 말이 자기 것인 줄 믿는다. 그리고 누구나 자기 것은 소중히 여기고 사랑하는 것이다. 이렇게 해서 영들은 사람을 소중히 여기고 사랑하도록 그들이 모르는 제재를 받는다. 나는 여러 해 동안 계속되는 경험의 결과로 사람과 영들과의 이러한 결합에 대해 너무도 잘 알게 되었다. 내가 이보다 더 잘 아는 것이 없을 정도이다. With every individual there are good spirits and evil spirits. Through good spirits man has conjunction with heaven, and through evil spirits with hell. These spirits are in the world of spirits, which lies midway between heaven and hell. This world will be described particularly hereafter. When these spirits come to a man they enter into his entire memory, and thus into his entire thought, evil spirits into the evil things of his memory and thought, and good spirits into the good things of his memory and thought. These spirits have no knowledge whatever that they are with man; but when they are with him they believe that all things of his memory and thought are their own; neither do they see the man, because nothing that is in our solar world falls into their sight.204 The Lord exercises the greatest care that spirits may not know that they are with man; for if they knew it they would talk with him, and in that case evil spirits would destroy him; for evil spirits, being joined with hell, desire nothing so much as to destroy man, not alone his soul, that is, his faith and love, but also his body. It is otherwise when spirits do not talk with man, in which case they are not aware that what they are thinking and also what they are saying among themselves is from man; for although it is from man that they talk with one another, they believe that what they are thinking and saying is their own, and everyone esteems and loves what is his own. In this way spirits are constrained to love and esteem man, although they do not know it. That such is the conjunction of spirits with man has become so well known to me from a continual experience of many years that nothing is better known to me.

There are angels and spirits with every man, and by means of them man has communication with the spiritual world (n. 697, 2796, 2886, 2887, 4047, 4048, 5846–5866, 5976–5993). 자기에게 와있는 영들이 없으면 사람은 살 수 없다 (AC.5993). Man without spirits attending him cannot live (n. 5993). 사람은 영들의 눈에는 보이지 않는다. 마찬가지로 영들 또한 사람의 눈에는 보이지 않는다 (AC.5862). Man is not seen by spirits, even as spirits are not seen by man (n. 5862). 영들은 자기들이 말하고 있는 사람을 제외하고는 그 어떤 사람에게 속한, 우리 태양계 내 그 어떤 것도 볼 수 없다 (AC.1880). Spirits can see nothing in our solar world pertaining to any man except the one with whom they are speaking (n. 1880).
