천국 천사들의 순진한 상태

The State of Innocence of the Angels of Heaven

순진함이란 자기를 따르지 않고, 주의 인도를 따르는 것을 말하므로, 천국에서는 모두가 순진하다. 왜냐하면, 자기를 따른다는 것은 자기 본성의 인도에 따르는 것이고, 자기 본성은 자기 사랑이며, 자기를 사랑하는 사람은 다른 누구의 인도도 따르지 않는다는 것을 그들은 알기 때문이다. 따라서 천사는 순진한 정도만큼 천국에, 즉 신적 선과 신적 진리 안에 있다. 이 두 가지 안에 있는 것이 곧 천국에 있는 것이기 때문이다. 결과적으로 천국은 순진성의 단계에 따라 구분된다. 가장 외적인 천국, 즉 일층천 천사들은 순진성의 첫 단계인 가장 외적인 단계에 있다. 중간 천국인 이층천 천사들은 순진성의 둘째 단계, 즉 중간 단계에 있고, 삼층천인 가장 내적 천국 천사들은 순진성의 셋째 단계, 즉 가장 내적인 단계에, 즉 천국의 무구함 그 자체 안에 있다. 왜냐하면 이들은 아이들이 아버지에게 인도받는 것처럼 주께 인도받는 것을 누구보다도 더 사랑하기 때문이다. 또 그래서 그들은 주께 직접 듣거나 말씀과 설교를 통해 간접적으로 듣는 신적 진리를 바로 의지 속에 받아들여 행동에 옮기고, 그들의 삶이 되게 한다. 이것이 그들의 지혜가 아래 천국들의 천사보다 뛰어난 이유다 (AC.270, 271항). 이 가장 내적 천국의 천사들은 이런 특성 때문에 무구함의 원천이신 주님께 가장 가까이 있다. 또 그들은 자기 본성으로부터 멀리 떨어져 있어 ‘주님 안에’ 산다. 이들은 겉으로 보기에는 단순해 보이고, 아래 천국 천사들 눈에는 아주 작고 지혜롭지 못한 아이로 보인다. 왜냐하면 그들은 지혜가 하나도 자기에게서 나오지 않는다는 사실을 알고 있고, 이것을 확실히 아는 것이 지혜로운 것이기 때문이다. 그들은 또 자기들이 아는 것은 모르는 것에 비하면 아무 것도 아님을 알고 있다. 이것을 알고 확실히 인식하며 느끼는 것이 지혜의 첫걸음이라고 그들은 말한다. 이 천사들은 옷을 입지 않는다. 벌거벗음이 순진성에 상응하기 때문이다.주193 As innocence consists in being led by the Lord and not by self, so all who are in heaven are in innocence; for all who are there love to be led by the Lord, knowing that to lead themselves is to be led by what is their own, and what is one’s own is loving oneself, he that loves himself not permitting himself to be led by anyone else. Therefore, so far as an angel is in innocence he is in heaven, in other words, is in Divine good and Divine truth, for to be in these is to be in heaven. Consequently the heavens are distinguished by degrees of innocence—those who are in the outmost or first heaven are in innocence of the first or outmost degree; those who are in the middle or second heaven are in innocence of the second or middle degree; while those who are in the inmost or third heaven are in innocence of the third or inmost degree, and are therefore the veriest innocences of heaven, for more than all others they love to be led by the Lord as little children by their father; and for the same reason the Divine truth that they hear immediately from the Lord or mediately through the Word and preaching they take directly into their will and do it, thus committing it to life. And this is why their wisdom is so superior to that of the angels of the lower heavens (see n. 270, 271). These angels of the inmost heaven, being such, are nearest to the Lord from whom they receive innocence, and are so separated from what is their own that they live as it were in the Lord. Externally they appear simple, and before the eyes of the angels of the lower heavens they appear like children, that is, as very small, and not very wise, although they are the wisest of the angels of heaven; since they know that they have nothing of wisdom from themselves, and that acknowledging this is being wise. They know also that what they know is as nothing compared to what they do not know; and they say that knowing, acknowledging, and perceiving this is the first step toward wisdom. These angels have no clothing, because nakedness corresponds to innocence.193

Nakedness belongs to innocence (n. 165, 8375). 영들한테는 자신들의 옷을 옆으로 치운 후, 자신들을 알몸 상태로 드러냄으로써 (자신들의) 이노센스를 보여주는 일종의 습관이 있다 (AC.165, 8375, 9960). Spirits have a custom of exhibiting innocence by laying aside their garments and presenting themselves naked (n. 165, 8375, 9960).
