사람하고 하는 천사들의 말

그 시대 이후로 사람들은 천사와 대화하는 일이 거의 없어졌다. 그러나 천국에 있지 않은 영들과는 얘기하는 사람이 있어 왔다. 그 이유는 사람의 내적 기능과 외적 기능은 주를 그 중심으로 삼고 바라보고 있거나(HH.124), 아니면 주를 등지고 자기를 향하고 있거나 둘 중 하나이기 때문이다. 주를 향하고 있는 사람들은 동시에 천국을 향한다. 그러나 자기를 향하고 있는 사람은 동시에 세상을 향한다. 이들을 향상시키기란 어려운 일이다. 그러나 주께서는 그들의 사랑을 전환시키심으로써 최대한 그들을 끌어올리신다. 사랑의 전환은 말씀의 진리를 수단으로 이루어진다. Since those times it is only rarely that anyone has talked with the angels of heaven; but some have talked with spirits who are not in heaven. This is so because man’s interior and exterior faculties are such that they are turned either toward the Lord as their common center (n. 124), or toward self, that is, backwards from the Lord. Those that are turned toward the Lord are also turned toward heaven. But those that are turned toward self, are turned also toward the world. And to elevate these is a difficult matter; nevertheless the Lord elevates them as much as is possible, by turning the love about; which is done by means of truths from the Word.
