천사들의 스피치

The Speech of Angels

천사들의 언어가 그들의 애정과 상응하고, 그들의 애정은 그들의 사랑에서 나오므로, 그리고 천국의 사랑은 주님과 이웃을 향한 사랑이므로 (위 HH.13-19 참조), 천사들의 말이 얼마나 뛰어나고 아름다운 것인지 분명히 알 수 있다. 그들의 말은 귀뿐만 아니라 듣는 사람 마음의 내면까지 감동시킨다. 어떤 냉혹한 영에게 한 천사가 얘기를 한 적이 있다. 이 영은 너무나 감동하여 마침내 눈물을 흘렸다. 그는 자기가 전에 한 번도 운 적이 없는데 지금 천사의 얘기는 ‘사랑이 하는 말’이라 울지 않을 수 없다고 했다. As the speech of angels corresponds to their affection, and their affection belongs to their love, and as the love of heaven is love to the Lord and love toward the neighbor (see above, n. 13–19), it is evident how choice and delightful their talk must be, affecting not the ears only but also the interiors of the mind of those who listen to it. There was a certain hardhearted spirit with whom an angel spoke. At length he was so affected by what was said that he shed tears, saying that he had never wept before, but he could not refrain, for it was love speaking.
