천국 안의 다스림

Governments in Heaven

지옥에도 다스림이 있다. 다스림이 없으면, 지옥을 제어할 수 없기 때문이다. 그러나 지옥에서의 다스림은 천국과 정반대되는, 자기 사랑에서 나온 지배다. 거기서는 모두가 다른 사람 위에 군림하고 명령하려고 한다. 그들은 자기를 좋아하지 않는 이들을 증오하고, 복수와 분노의 대상으로 삼는다. 그것이 자기 사랑의 본질이기 때문이다. 따라서 보다 더 악한 이들이 지배자가 되고, 나머지는 이들이 두려워서 복종한다.주160 이들에 관해서는 나중에 지옥을 다루는 곳에서 따로 설명하겠다. Also in the hells there are governments, for without governments they could not be kept in restraint; but the governments there are opposite to the governments in the heavens; they are governments of the love of self. Everyone there wishes to dictate to others and to be over others. They hate those that do not favor them, and make them objects of their vengeance and fury, for such is the nature of the love of self. Therefore the more malignant are set over them as governors, and these they obey from fear.160 But of this below, where the hells are treated of.

 

 

주160. 두 종류의 다스림이 있다. 하나는 이웃 사랑으로부터, 다른 하나는 자기 사랑으로부터다. There are two kinds of rule, one from love toward the neighbor, the other from love of self (n. 10814). 이웃 사랑으로부터의 다스림은 모든 선과 모든 행복으로 흐른다. From the rule that is from love toward the neighbor flow all goods and all happinesses (n. 10160, 10814). 천국에서는 아무도 자기 사랑으로 다스리려 하지 않는다. 반대로 모두 섬기기를 원하는데, 이것이 이웃 사랑으로 다스리는 것이다. 이것이 그들의 큰 능력의 근원이다. In heaven no one desires to rule from the love of self, but all desire to minister, which means to rule from love to the neighbor; this is the source of their great power (n. 5732). 자기 사랑의 다스림으로부터 모든 악이 흘러들어온다. From rule from the love of self all evils flow in (n. 10038). 자기 사랑과 세상 사랑이 이미 널리 퍼지기 시작하자, 사람들은 안전을 위해 다스림에 복종하지 않을 수 없었다. When the loves of self and the world had begun to prevail men were compelled to subject themselves to governments as a means of security (n. 7364, 10160, 10814).
