사후 사람의 첫 번째 상태

The First State of Man after Death

사후의 첫째 상태는 사람의 이 세상에서의 상태와 비슷하다. 그때 사람은 여전히 외면적 차원에 있고, 얼굴, 말, 태도도 여전하며, 따라서 여전히 비슷한 도덕적이고 사회규범에 맞는 생활을 한다. 따라서 사람은 깨어날 때, 천사들이 이제 그는 영이 되었다고 말해주어야(450항), 또 거기서 경험하는 일에 주의를 기울여야 자기가 더 이상 세상에 있지 않다는 것을 의식할 수 있다. 이렇게 삶은 내생으로 이어진다. 죽음은 단지 옮겨가는 것일 뿐이다. The first state of man after death resembles his state in the world, for he is then likewise in externals, having a like face, like speech, and a like disposition, thus a like moral and civil life; and in consequence he is made aware that he is not still in the world only by giving attention to what he encounters, and from his having been told by the angels when he was resuscitated that he had become a spirit (n. 450). Thus is one life continued into the other, and death is merely transition.
