사후 사람은 생전 살았던 삶과 같다

Man After Death Is Such as His Life Had Been in the World

사람이 자기 행위와 일란 대로 심판받고 보상받는다는 것은 말씀의 많은 구절에 나온다. 여기 그중 일부를 인용한다. That man will be judged and rewarded according to his deeds and works is declared in many passages in the Word, some of which I will here quote:

 

인자가 아버지의 영광으로 그 천사들과 함께 오리니 그때에 각 사람이 행한 대로 갚으리라 (마16:27) The Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render unto everyone according to his works (Matt. 16:27).

 

또 내가 들으니 하늘에서 음성이 나서 이르되 기록하라 지금 이후로 주 안에서 죽는 자들은 복이 있도다 하시매 성령이 이르시되 그러하다 그들이 수고를 그치고 쉬리니 이는 그들의 행한 일이 따름이라 하시더라 (계14:13) Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord; yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, for their works follow them (Rev. 14:13).

 

또 내가 사망으로 그의 자녀를 죽이리니 모든 교회가 나는 사람의 뜻과 마음을 살피는 자인 줄 알지라 내가 너희 각 사람의 행위대로 갚아 주리라 (계2:23) I will give to everyone according to his works (Rev. 2:23).

 

12또 내가 보니 죽은 자들이 큰 자나 작은 자나 그 보좌 앞에 서 있는데 책들이 펴 있고 또 다른 책이 펴졌으니 곧 생명책이라 죽은 자들이 자기 행위를 따라 책들에 기록된 대로 심판을 받으니 13바다가 그 가운데에서 죽은 자들을 내주고 또 사망과 음부도 그 가운데에서 죽은 자들을 내주매 각 사람이 자기의 행위대로 심판을 받고 (계20:12, 13) I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God; and the books were opened and the dead were judged out of the things that were written in the books according to their works. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and hell gave up those that were in them, and they were judged everyone according to their works (Rev. 20:12, 13).

 

보라 내가 속히 오리니 내가 줄 상이 내게 있어 각 사람에게 그가 행한 대로 갚아 주리라 (계22:12) Behold I come, and my reward is with me, to give to everyone according to his works (Rev. 22:12).

 

24그러므로 누구든지 나의 이 말을 듣고 행하는 자는 그 집을 반석 위에 지은 지혜로운 사람 같으리니, 26나의 이 말을 듣고 행하지 아니하는 자는 그 집을 모래 위에 지은 어리석은 사람 같으리니 (마7:24, 26) Everyone that heareth my words and doeth them I will liken to a prudent man; but everyone that heareth my words and doeth them not is likened to a foolish man (Matt. 7:24, 26).

 

21나더러 주여 주여 하는 자마다 다 천국에 들어갈 것이 아니요 다만 하늘에 계신 내 아버지의 뜻대로 행하는 자라야 들어가리라 22그날에 많은 사람이 나더러 이르되 주여 주여 우리가 주의 이름으로 선지자 노릇 하며 주의 이름으로 귀신을 쫓아내며 주의 이름으로 많은 권능을 행하지 아니하였나이까 하리니 23그때에 내가 그들에게 밝히 말하되 내가 너희를 도무지 알지 못하니 불법을 행하는 자들아 내게서 떠나가라 하리라 (마7:21-23) Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in the heavens. Many will say unto me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name, and through Thy name cast out demons, and in Thy name done many mighty works? But then will I confess to them, I know you not; depart from me, ye workers of iniquity (Matt. 7:21–23).

 

25집 주인이 일어나 문을 한 번 닫은 후에 너희가 밖에 서서 문을 두드리며 주여 열어 주소서 하면 그가 대답하여 이르되 나는 너희가 어디에서 온 자인지 알지 못하노라 하리니 26그때에 너희가 말하되 우리는 주 앞에서 먹고 마셨으며 주는 또한 우리를 길거리에서 가르치셨나이다 하나 27그가 너희에게 말하여 이르되 나는 너희가 어디에서 왔는지 알지 못하노라 행악하는 모든 자들아 나를 떠나가라 하리라 (눅13:25-27) Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk before Thee; Thou hast taught in our streets. But he will say, I tell you I know you not, ye workers of iniquity (Luke 13:25–27).

 

그리하여 여러 민족과 큰 왕들이 그들로 자기들을 섬기게 할 것이나 나는 그들의 행위와 그들의 손이 행한 대로 갚으리라 (렘25:14) I will recompense them according to their work and according to the doing of their hands (Jer. 25:14).

 

주는 책략에 크시며 하시는 일에 능하시며 인류의 모든 길을 주목하시며 그의 길과 그의 행위의 열매대로 보응하시나이다 (렘32:19) Jehovah, whose eyes are open upon all the ways of men, to give to everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his works (Jer. 32:19).

 

장차는 백성이나 제사장이나 동일함이라 내가 그들의 행실대로 벌하며 그들의 행위대로 갚으리라 (호4:9) I will visit upon his ways and recompense to him his works (Hos. 4:9).

 

내가 나의 종 선지자들에게 명령한 내 말과 내 법도들이 어찌 너희 조상들에게 임하지 아니하였느냐 그러므로 그들이 돌이켜 이르기를 만군의 여호와께서 우리 길대로, 우리 행위대로 우리에게 행하시려고 뜻하신 것을 우리에게 행하셨도다 하였느니라 (슥1:6) Jehovah doeth with us according to our ways and according to our works (Zech. 1:6).

 

최후 심판을 예언하시는 부분(마25:32–46)에서 주님은 행위만을 말씀하고 계신다. 즉 선한 일을 한 사람은 영생에 들어가고, 악한 일을 한 사람은 영벌에 들어간다고 가르치신다. 이는 구원과 영벌에 관한 다른 많은 구절에서도 볼 수 있다. 분명한 것은, 행위와 일이란 사람의 겉으로 드러나는 생활을 말하며, 거기엔 그 사람의 내면생활이 어떠한가가 나타난다는 점이다. In foretelling the last judgment the Lord recounts nothing but works, teaching that those that have done good works will enter into eternal life, and those that have done evil works will enter into damnation, as in Matthew 25:32–46, and in many other passages that treat of the salvation and condemnation of man. It is clear that works and deeds constitute the outward life of man, and that the quality of his inward life is made evident in them.
