천사들이 천국에서 하는 일

The Occupations of Angels in Heaven

모든 천국 공동체가 그들의 선에 따라 구분되어 있기 때문에(41항 참조), 그들은 쓰임새에 따라 구분된다. 선이란 행동하는 선, 즉 이웃 사랑의 선이며, 그것이 바로 쓰임새이기 때문이다. 어떤 공동체들은 어린이들을 돌보는 일을 맡는다. 또 다른 공동체들은 아이들이 자라남에 따라 가르치고 훈련하는 일, 또 이 세상에서 가르침을 받아 좋은 성품을 지니게 되어 천국에 들어온 소년 소녀들을 가르치고 훈련하는 일 등을 맡는다. 기독교 사회에서 온 단순한 선인들을 가르쳐 천국으로 인도하는 공동체들도 있고, 다양한 비기독교 민족들을 그렇게 가르치고 인도하는 공동체들도 있다. As all the societies in the heavens are distinct in accordance with their goods (as said above, n. 41 seq.) so they are distinct in accordance with their uses, goods being goods in act, that is, goods of charity which are uses. Some societies are employed in taking care of little children; others in teaching and training them as they grow up; others in teaching and training in like manner the boys and girls that have acquired a good disposition from their education in the world, and in consequence have come into heaven. There are other societies that teach the simple good from the Christian world, and lead them into the way to heaven; there are others that in like manner teach and lead the various heathen nations.

 

이 세상에서 방금 도착한 영들을 악한 영들의 침범으로부터 보호하는 공동체들도 있다. 낮은 땅에 있는 영들을 돌보는 공동체들, 지옥의 영들을 돌보며, 그들이 서로를 괴롭히는 것이 정해진 한계를 넘지 못하게 막은 공동체들도 있다. 죽음에서 깨어나는 영들을 돕는 공동체도 있다. 일반적으로 말하면, 각 공동체의 천사들은 사람에게 보내져 사람을 지키면서 악한 애정과 그에 따른 생각들로부터 멀어지게 인도하고, 사람이 자유 안에서 받아들이면 선한 애정을 불어넣어 준다. 그렇게 함으로써 천사들은 또한 사람의 행위와 일이 가능한 한 악한 의도에서 멀어지게 조정한다. There are some societies that defend from infestations by evil spirits the newly arrived spirits that have just come from the world; there are some that attend upon the spirits that are in the lower earth; also some that attend upon spirits that are in the hells, and restrain them from tormenting each other beyond prescribed limits; and there are some that attend upon those who are being raised from the dead. In general, angels from each society are sent to men to watch over them and to ead them away from evil affections and consequent thoughts, and to inspire them with good affections so far as they will receive them in freedom; and by means of these they also direct the deeds or works of men by removing as far as possible evil intentions.

 

천사가 사람에게 오면 그들 자신의 애정 안에 있는 것처럼 머문다. 그리고 천사들은 사람이 진리로 비롯된 선 안에 거하는 정도만큼 사람에게 가까이 있고, 사람의 생활이 선에서 먼 만큼 그 사람에게서 멀리 있다.주251 천사들이 하는 이 모든 일은 천사들을 통해서 주께서 하시는 일이다. 천사들은 일을 주님으로 말미암아 하는 것이지 자기로 말미암아 하는 것이 아니기 때문이다. 그렇기 때문에 말씀에 나오는 ‘천사’는 내적 의미로 보면 천사가 아니라 주님의 속성을 말한다. 같은 이유로 말씀에 천사를 ‘신들’이라고 한 것이다.주252 When angels are with men they dwell as it were in their affections; and they are near to man just in the degree in which he is in good from truths, and are distant from him just in the degree in which his life is distant from good.251 But all these occupations of angels are occupations of the Lord through the angels, for the angels perform them from the Lord and not from themselves. For this reason, in the Word in its internal sense “angels” mean, not angels, but something belonging to the Lord; and for the same reason angels are called “gods” in the Word.252

There are spirits and angels with all men and man is led by the Lord by means of spirits and angels (n. 50, 697, 2796, 2887, 2888, 5846–5866, 5976–5993, 6209). 천사들은 악한 영들을 지배한다(AC.1755). Angels have dominion over evil spirits (n. 1755).

In the Word by angels something Divine from the Lord is signified (n. 1925, 2821, 3039, 4085, 6280, 8192). 말씀에서 천사들을 가리켜 ‘신들’이라 하는데, 왜냐하면 그들은 주님의 신적 선과 진리에 관한 수용체들이기 때문이다 (AC.4295, 4402, 8192, 8301). In the Word angels are called “gods,” because of their reception of Divine truth and good from the Lord (n. 4295, 4402, 8192, 8301).
