천국의 결혼

Marriages in Heaven

선과 진리는 천사나 사람 안에서 결합되면 더 이상 두 개체가 아닌 하나가 된다. 그때에 선은 진리의 것이 되고, 진리는 선의 것이 되기 때문이다. 이 결합은 마치 우리가 의도하는 것을 생각하고, 생각하는 것을 의도할 때, 생각과 의도가 통일되어 한 마음을 만드는 것에 비할 수 있다. 즉 생각은 의도를 모양 짓고, 다시 말하면 의지가 원하는 것을 형태로 나타내고, 의지는 생각에 활기를 주는 것에 비할 수 있다. 이것이 천국에서 부부를 두 천사라고 하지 않고, 한 천사라고 하는 이유이다. 다음의 주의 말씀이 의미하는 것도 그것이다. Good and truth conjoined in an angel or a man are not two but one, since good is then good of truth and truth is truth of good. This conjunction may be likened to a man’s thinking what he wills and willing what he thinks, when the thought and will make one, that is, one mind; for thought forms, that is, presents in form that which the will wills, and the will gives delight to it; and this is why a married pair in heaven are not called two, but one angel. This also is what is meant by the Lord’s words:

 

4예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 사람을 지으신 이가 본래 그들을 남자와 여자로 지으시고 5말씀하시기를 그러므로 사람이 그 부모를 떠나서 아내에게 합하여 그 둘이 한 몸이 될지니라 하신 것을 읽지 못하였느냐 6그런즉 이제 둘이 아니요 한 몸이니 그러므로 하나님이 짝지어 주신 것을 사람이 나누지 못할지니라 하시니, 11예수께서 이르시되 사람마다 이 말을 받지 못하고 오직 타고난 자라야 할지니라 (마19:4-6, 11) Have ye not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother and shall cleave to his wife, and they twain shall become one flesh? Therefore, they are no more twain, but one flesh. What, therefore, God hath joined together let not man put asunder. Not all can receive this word but they to whom it is given (Matt. 19:4–6, 11; Mark 10:6–9; Gen. 2:24).

 

이것은 천사들의 천국적 결혼에 대해서, 그리고 선과 진리의 결합에 대해서 하신 말씀이다. ‘하나님이 짝지어 주신 것을 사람이 나누지 못할지니라’는 말씀은 선은 진리로부터 갈라놓으면 안 된다는 뜻이다. This is a description both of the heavenly marriage in which the angels are and of the marriage of good and truth, “man’s not putting asunder what God has joined together” meaning that good is not to be separated from truth.
