천국의 어린이들

Little Children in Heaven

아이들은 죽은 후에도 그대로 아이로 있다. 똑같은 어린 마음, 무지에서 오는 순진함, 그리고 매사에 연약함을 그대로 지니고 있다. 그들은 천사가 될 수 있는 잠재성을 지니고 있을 뿐 아직 천사는 아니고, 나중에 천사가 되는 것이다. 이 세상을 떠나는 모든 사람은 우선 그의 삶과 똑같은 상태에 있다. 유년은 유년의 상태, 소년은 소년의 상태, 청년, 장년, 노년은 각기 청년, 장년, 노년의 상태에 있다. 그러나 각자의 상태는 점차로 변한다. 특히 어린 아이들의 상태는 그 순진함에 있어 다른 모든 상태보다 뛰어나다. 그리고 아직 악이 실제 생활에 뿌리내리지 않은 상태다. 순진함은 신앙의 진리와 사랑의 선을 받는 그릇이기 때문에 천국의 모든 것이 심기는 바탕이 된다. When children die they are still children in the other life, having a like infantile mind, a like innocence in ignorance, and a like tenderness in all things. They are merely in the rudiments of a capacity to become angels, for children are not angels but become angels. For everyone passing out of this world enters the other in the same state of life, a little child in the state of a little child, a boy in the state of a boy, a youth, a man, an old man, in the state of a youth, a man, or an old man; but subsequently each one’s state is changed. The state of little children surpasses the state of all others in that they are in innocence, and evil has not yet been rooted in them by actual life; and in innocence all things of heaven can be implanted, for it is a receptacle of the truth of faith and of the good of love.
