천국 천사들의 능력

The Power of the Angels of Heaven

천국에서는 주님으로부터 나오는 신적 진리에 모든 능력이 있다. 천국에서 주님은 신적 선에 결합된 신적 진리이시기 때문이다 (HH.126-140 참조). 천사들은 신적 진리를 받아들이는 정도만큼 능력이 있다.주165 더 나아가 각 천사는 그 자신의 진리와 선이다. 각자의 속성은 자기의 사고와 의지의 속성과 동일하기 때문이다. 사고는 진리에 해당한다. 생각의 모든 것은 진리에서 비롯된 것이기 때문이다. 또 의지는 선에 해당한다. 의지의 모든 것이 선에서 비롯되기 때문이다. 즉 사람은 자기가 이해하는 것을 진리라 하고, 자기가 바라는 것을 선이라 하는 것이다. 이것을 보면, 모든 사람이 자신의 진리이고, 자신의 선임을 알 수 있다.주166 따라서 천사가 신성에서 오는 진리이고 선인 정도만큼 그는 능력이 있다. 그 정도만큼 주께서 그의 안에 계시기 때문이다. 또한 천국에는 이 세상과 같이 무한한 다양성이 존재하므로 (HH.20), 누구의 선과 진리도 남과 같지 않기 때문에, 한 천사의 능력은 다른 천사의 능력과 같지 않다. 가장 큰 사람의 팔 부위를 이루는 천사들의 능력이 가장 크다. 그들은 다른 천사들보다 더 진리 안에 있기 때문이며, 그들의 진리 안으로 천국 전체로부터 선이 흘러들기 때문이다. 사람의 경우도 온 힘이 팔을 통과하며, 전신은 팔을 통해 힘을 행사한다. 그렇기 때문에 성서에서 ‘팔’과 ‘손’은 능력을 의미한다.주167 그런 이유로 천국에서는 가끔 땅 위의 암벽이나 어떤 장애물이라도 부술 만한 엄청난 힘을 가진 맨팔이 나타난다. 한번은 그 팔이 내 쪽으로 움직였는데, 내 뼈를 가루로 만들 만한 힘을 느낄 수 있었다. It is the Divine truth that goes forth from the Lord that has all power in the heavens, for the Lord in heaven is Divine truth united to Divine good (see n. 126–140). To the extent that angels are receptions of this truth they are powers.165 Moreover each one is his own truth and his own good because each one is such as his understanding and will are. The understanding pertains to truth because everything of it is from truths, and the will pertains to good because everything of it is from goods; for whatever anyone understands he calls truth, and whatever he wills he calls good. From this it is that everyone is his own truth and his own good.166 Therefore so far as an angel is truth from the Divine and good from the Divine he is a power, because to that extent the Lord is in him. And as no one’s good and truth are wholly like or the same as another’s, since in heaven, as in the world, there is endless variety (n. 20), so the power of one angel is not like the power of another. Those who constitute the arms in the greatest man, or heaven, have the greatest power because such are more in truths than others, and into their truths good flows from the entire heaven. Moreover, the power of the whole man passes into the arms, and by means of these the whole body exercises its powers. It is for this reason that in the Word “arms” and “hand” signify powers.167 Sometimes on this account a naked arm is seen in heaven so powerful as to be able to break in pieces everything in its way, even though it were a great rock on the earth. Once it was moved toward me, and I perceived that it was able to crush my bones to atoms.

 

 

주165. 천사들을 능력이라고 하는데, 이는 주님으로부터 나오는 신전 진리를 그들이 수용하는 데서 오는 능력이다. Angels are called powers and are powers from their reception of Divine truth from the Lord (n. 9639). 천사들은 주님의 신적 진리를 담는 수용체들이며, 이런 이유로 종종 그들을 ‘신들’이라 한다. Angels are recipients of Divine truth from the Lord and on this account are sometimes called “gods” in the Word (n. 4295, 4402, 7268, 7873, 8192, 8301, 9160).

 

주166. 한 사람이나 천사는 그 자신의 선이요, 그 자신의 진리이며, 그것은 곧 그 자신의 사랑이요, 그 자신의 신앙이기도 하다. A man or an angel is his own good and his own truth, thus his own love and his own faith (n. 10298, 10367). 그는 그 자신의 이해요, 그 자신의 의지이다. 생명의 모든 것이 거기서 나오기 때문인데, 선한 생명은 그 의지로부터, 진리의 생명은 그 이해로부터 나오기 때문이다. He is his own understanding and his own will, for everything of life is therefrom; the life of good is from the will, and the life of truth is from the understanding (n. 10076, 10177, 10264, 10284).
