천국 천사들의 능력

The Power of the Angels of Heaven

영계에 대해서, 그리고 영계에서 자연계로 흘러드는 입류(入流, influx)에 대해서 아무 것도 알지 못하면, 천사들에게 능력이 있음을 이해할 수 없다. 그런 경우, 사람들은 천사들이 영이고, 너무 순수하며 실체가 없어 눈에 보이지 않으므로 능력이 있을 수 없다고 여긴다. 그러나 사물의 원인을 보다 내적으로 살피는 사람의 경우는 견해가 다르다. 그런 사람들은 인간의 모든 능력이란 그의 사고와 의지에서 나온다는 것을 (이 두 가지를 떠나서는 몸의 작은 부분도 움직이지 못하므로) 알기 때문이다. 사람의 사고와 의지가 그의 영적 사람이고, 이 영적 사람이 육체와 그 지체를 뜻대로 움직이는 것이다. 즉 영이 생각하는 것을 입과 혀가 말하고, 영이 뜻하는 것을 몸이 행하며, 이것이 자유자재로 되는 것이다. 사람의 의지와 사고는 천사와 영들을 통해 주께서 다스리시므로 사람 몸의 모든 것도 그렇게 다스리신다. 몸이 하는 모든 것은 의지와 사고에서 비롯되기 때문이다. 믿기 힘들겠지만, 사람은 천국에서의 입류가 아니면 한 발짝도 움직일 수 없다. 나는 수없이 많은 경험을 통해 그 사실을 확인했다. 천사들에게 내 발걸음, 행동, 내 혀와 말을 천사들 마음대로 움직이라는 허락이 내려졌었다. 그들은 내 의지와 생각 안에 흘러드는 입류로 나를 움직였다. 그때 나는 나 스스로는 아무 것도 할 수 없다는 것을 알게 되었다. 그 후 천사들은 나에게 모든 사람이 이렇게 다스림을 받는다고 말하고, 이는 교회의 가르침과 성서를 보아도 알 수 있을 것이라고 했다. 사람은 비록 교리를 떠나 스스로 생각할 때는 달리 말하고 달리 믿더라도, 기도할 때는 하나님께 천사를 보내어 인도해 주시고, 발걸음을 이끄시고 가르쳐 주시라고 하고, 또 생각할 바와 말할 바를 알려 주시라고 하기 때문이라고 했다. 이상의 내용은 천사들이 사람에게 어떤 힘을 갖는가를 알리기 위해 언급한 것이다. That the angels possess power cannot be comprehended by those who know nothing about the spiritual world and its influx into the natural world. Such think that angels can have no power because they are spiritual and are even so pure and unsubstantial that no eye can see them. But those who look more interiorly into the causes of things take a different view. Such know that all the power that a man has is from his understanding and will (for apart from these he is powerless to move a particle of his body), and his understanding and will are his spiritual man. This moves the body and its members at its pleasure; for whatever it thinks the mouth and tongue speak, and whatever it wills the body does; and it bestows its strength at pleasure. As man’s will and understanding are ruled by the Lord through angels and spirits, so also are all things of his body, because these are from the will and understanding; and if you will believe it, without influx from heaven man cannot even move a step. That this is so has been shown me by much experience. Angels have been permitted to move my steps, my actions, and my tongue and speech, as they pleased, and this by influx into my will and thought; and I have learned thereby that of myself I could do nothing. I was afterwards told by them that every man is so ruled, and that he can know this from the doctrine of the church and from the Word, for he prays that God may send his angels to lead him, direct his steps, teach him, and inspire in him what to think and what to say, and other like things; although he says and believes otherwise when he is thinking by himself apart from doctrine. All this has been said to make known what power angels have with man.
