※  천사들은 시간이 무엇인지 모른다. 그러나 모든 것에 지속적인 진행이 있는 것은 지상에서와 전혀 다를 바가 없다. 그 이유는, 천국에는 해와 날 대신 상태의 변화가 있기 때문이며, 해와 날이 있는 곳에는 시간이 있지만, 상태의 변화가 있는 곳에는 상태들이 있기 때문이다.

천사들은 시간이 무엇인지 모른다. 그러나 모든 것에 지속적인 진행이 있는 것은 지상에서와 전혀 다를 바가 없다. 그 이유는, 천국에는 해와 날 대신 상태의 변화가 있기 때문이며, 해와 날이 있는 곳에는 시간이 있지만, 상태의 변화가 있는 곳에는 상태들이 있기 때문이다. Angels do not know what time is, although with them there is a successive progression of all things, as there is in the world, and this so completely that there is no difference whatever; and the reason is that in heaven instead of years and days there are changes of state; and where there are years and days there are times, but where there are changes of state there are states.
