※  천국에서 주님은 신적 진리이시고, 신적 진리는 그곳 빛이기 때문에, 말씀에서 주님과 주님으로부터 오는 모든 진리를 ‘빛’이라 하였다.

천국의 빛과 열

Light and Heat in Heaven

천국의 빛은 영적이고, 이 빛이 신적 진리라는 사실은 사람의 경우를 보아도 추론할 수 있다. 즉 사람에게 신적 진리에서 비롯되는 지성과 지혜가 있으면, 그만큼 그는 천사들처럼 영적 빛 안에 있고, 그 빛으로 깨달음(enlightenment)을 얻는 것이다. 사람의 영적 빛은 그의 사고력의 빛(the light of his understanding)이며, 이 빛이 비추는 대상은 진리다. 사고력은 이 진리를 분석하여 분류하고, 합리성(reason)을 형성하며, 거기서 일련의 결론을 도출한다.주100 사고력을 비추어 이런 것을 볼 수 있게 하는 빛이야말로 진정한 빛이라는 것을 자연적인 사람은 모른다. 그것이 눈에 보이지도, 지각되지도 않기 때문이다. 그러나 많은 사람이 이 빛을 인식하고, 영적이 아닌, 자연적 사고를 가진 사람들이 거하는 자연적 빛과 이 빛은 서로 다르다는 것을 알고 있다. 여기서 자연적 사고를 가진 사람들은, 이 세상만 중요시하고, 모든 것의 근원을 자연에 돌리는 사람들이다. 영적 사고를 가진 사람들은 천국을 중요시하고 모든 것의 근원을 하나님께 돌린다. 나는 마음을 비추는 진정한 빛, 즉 이 세상 자연적 빛과는 완전히 다른 빛이 있음을 자주 감지하고, 목격하도록 허락받았다. 나는 내적으로 그 빛 속에 단계적으로 올라가 보게 되었고, 올라갈수록 내 사고력은 너무도 밝아져, 전에 알지 못하던 것들을 알게 되고, 마침내 자연적 빛에 의한 사고로는 생각조차 할 수 없었던 것들을 이해할 수 있었다. 때로 나는 천국의 빛으로는 이렇게 분명하고 쉽게 알 수 있는 것을 전에는 이해하지 못했다는 사실이 분하기조차 했다.주101 이와 같이 사고력에 해당하는 빛이 있기 때문에, 눈에 대한 표현은 사고력에도 적용된다. 예를 들면, 사고력으로 이해하는(perceives) 것은 ‘본다, 빛 안에 있다’고 할 수 있고, 이해하지 못할 때는, ‘어둠 속에, 또는 그늘에 있다’고 할 수 있다. That light in the heavens is spiritual and that this light is Divine truth may be inferred also from the fact that men as well as angels have spiritual light, and have enlightenment from that light so far as they are in intelligence and wisdom from Divine truth. Man’s spiritual light is the light of his understanding, and the objects of that light are truths, which he arranges analytically into groups, forms into reason, and from them draws conclusions in series.100 The natural man does not know that the light from which the understanding sees such things is a real light, for he neither sees it with his eyes nor perceives it by thought. And yet there are many who recognize this light, and distinguish it from the natural light in which those are who think naturally and not spiritually. Those think naturally who take account of the world only, and attribute all things to nature; while those think spiritually who take account of heaven and attribute all things to the Divine. It has often been granted me to perceive and also to see that there is a true light that enlightens the mind, wholly distinct from the light that is called natural light [lumen]. I have been raised up interiorly into that light by degrees; and as I was raised up my understanding became so enlightened as to enable me to perceive what I did not perceive before, and finally such things as I could not even comprehend by thought from natural light. Sometimes I felt indignant that I could not comprehend these things when they were so clearly and plainly perceived in the light of heaven.101 Because there is a light that belongs to the understanding, the same things are said of it as of the eye, as that it sees and is in light when it perceives, and is in obscurity and shade when it does not perceive, and so on.

 

 

주100. 사람은 그의 이해(understanding)가 천국 빛의 비춤을 받기 때문에 합리적이다(rational). Man is rational because his understanding is illumined by the light of heaven (n. 1524, 3138, 3167, 4408, 6608, 8707, 9128, 9399, 10569). 이해는 진리를 담는 그릇이기 때문에 열린다(is enlightened). The understanding is enlightened because it is a recipient of truth (n. 6222, 6608, 10659). 이해는 사람이 주님한테서 나오는 선 가운데 있는 진리(truth in good from the lord)를 받아들이는 정도만큼 열린다. The understanding is enlightened to the extent that man receives truth in good from the lord (n. 3619). 이해는 선으로부터 오는 진리 같은 건데 이 선은 진리가 형성되는 선이다. The understanding is such as are the truths from good by which it is formed (n. 10064). 시각이 세상으로부터 빛을 받듯 이해는 천국으로부터 빛을 받는다. The understanding has light from heaven, as the sight has light from the world (n. 1524, 5114, 6608, 9128). 사람한테는 늘 주님으로부터 오는 천국의 빛이 있다. 그러나 사람이 선으로 말미암는 진리 안에 있는 만큼만 그에게 흘러들어온다. The light of heaven from the Lord is always present with man, but it flows in only in the degree that man is in truth from good (n. 4060, 4214).

 

주101. 사람이 감각적인 것으로부터 들림 받게 되면, 그는 한결 부드러운 빛으로, 그리고 마침내 천국 빛 안으로 올라가게 된다. When man is raised up from the sensual he comes into a milder light, and at length into heavenly light (n. 6313, 6315, 9407). 사람이 지성 안으로 들려올라 갈 때, 천국의 빛 안으로 들어가는 실제적인 들림이 있다. When man is raised up into intelligence there is an actual elevation into the light of heaven (n. 3190). 내가 세속적 생각에서 물러날 때, 얼마나 그레이트한 빛이 지각되었는지! How great a light was perceived when I was withdrawn from worldly ideas (n. 1526, 6608).
