죽음에서 깨어나 영원한 삶에 들어가는 것

The Resuscitation of Man from the Dead and His Entrance into Eternal Life

나는 몸의 감각이 기능을 멈춘 상태, 즉 사람들이 죽는 때와 아주 흡사한 상태에 들어갔다. 그러나 내적 생명과 사고 기능은 그대로 보존되었다. 내게 일어나는 일을 통해 사람들이 죽음에서 깨어날 때 어떻게 되는가를 지각하고 기억해 둘 수 있게 하신 것이다. 내 몸의 호흡은 거의 정지되었고, 내적인 호흡, 즉 영의 호흡만 계속되고 있었으며, 거기에 몸의 호흡이 아주 가늘고 조용하게 연결되고 있었다. 그 다음, 먼저 내 심장박동과 천적 나라와의 교통이 이루어졌다. 그 나라가 사람의 심장과 상응하기 때문이다.주260 그 나라에서 온 천사들이 보였는데, 일부는 멀리 있었고, 둘은 내 머리맡에 앉아 있었다. 그러자 내 자신의 모든 애정은 제거되고, 오직 사고와 지각만 계솎되었다. As to the senses of the body I was brought into a state of insensibility, thus nearly into the state of the dying; but with the interior life and thought remaining unimpaired, in order that I might perceive and retain in the memory the things that happened to me, and that happen to those that are resuscitated from the dead. I perceived that the respiration of the body was almost wholly taken away; but the interior respiration of the spirit went on in connection with a slight and tacit respiration of the body. Then at first a communication of the pulse of the heart with the celestial kingdom was established, because that kingdom corresponds to the heart in man.260 Angels from that kingdom were seen, some at a distance, and two sitting near my head. Thus all my own affection was taken away although thought and perception continued.

 

[2] 그런 상태로 몇 시간이 지나자, 내 주위에 있던 영들이 내가 죽은 줄 알고 점차 물러갔다. 방부 처리된 시체에서 나는 것과 같은 향기가 느껴졌다. 천적 천사가 와 있을 때는 시신에 속한 모든 것에서 향기가 나고, 영들은 이 냄새가 나면 가까이 오지 못한다. 이렇게 함으로써 사람이 영원한 삶으로 들어갈 때, 악령들이 접근하지 못하게 하는 것이다. 내 머리맡에 앉아있던 천사들은 침묵을 지키면서 그들의 생각만 내 생각과 나누고 있었다. 그들의 생각이 받아들여지자 천사들은 이제 사람의 영이 몸에서 떠날 수 있는 상태가 되었음을 알았다. 생각을 이렇게 나누는 것은 그들이 내 얼굴을 바라봄으로써 이루어졌다. 이것이 천국에서 생각을 나누는 방식이다. I was in this state for some hours. Then the spirits that were around me withdrew, thinking that I was dead; and an aromatic odor like that of an embalmed body was perceived, for when the celestial angels are present everything pertaining to the corpse is perceived as aromatic, and when spirits perceive this they cannot approach; and in this way evil spirits are kept away from man’s spirit when he is being introduced into eternal life. The angels seated at my head were silent, merely sharing their thoughts with mine; and when their thoughts are received the angels know that the spirit of man is in a state in which it can be drawn forth from the body. This sharing of their thoughts was effected by looking into my face, for in this way in heaven thoughts are shared.

 

[3] 죽음에서 깨어나는 것이 어떻게 이루어지는지 알 수 있도록 내 사고와 감지 능력이 계속 남아 있었기 때문에, 나는 천사들이 먼저 내 생각이 어떤 것인지, 죽어가는 사람이 일반적으로 하는 생각인 영원한 삶에 대한 생각인지 아닌지 확인하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또 내 마음이 그 생각 안에 머물러 있기를 그들이 바라고 있다는 것을 알았다. 나중에 들은 바에 의하면, 사람의 영은 이 세상에서의 그의 전반적 애정, 즉 주된 애정에서 나오는 생각 속으로 돌아올 때까지, 그 몸이 숨을 거둘 때 하는 마지막 생각에 머물러 있게 된다는 것이었다. 내가 보고 느낄 수 있게 특별히 허락된 것은 내 마음의 내면, 즉 내 영의 내면을 잡아당기고 끌어내는 것 같은 현상이었다. 이것은 주께서 하시는 것이고, 깨어남이 그렇게 이루어진다고 했다. As my thought and perception continued, that I might know and remember how resuscitation is effected, I perceived the angels first tried to ascertain what my thought was, whether it was like the thought of those who are dying, which is usually about eternal life; also that they wished to keep my mind in that thought. Afterwards I was told that the spirit of man is held in its last thought when the body expires, until it returns to the thoughts that are from its general or ruling affection in the world. Especially was I permitted to see and feel that there was a pulling and drawing forth, as it were, of the interiors of my mind, thus of my spirit, from the body; and I was told that this is from the Lord, and that the resurrection is thus effected.
