세 천국이 있다

There Are Three Heavens

각 천국마다 안쪽과 바깥쪽이 있다. 안쪽에 있는 천사들을 내적 천사(internal angels), 바깥쪽에 있는 천사들을 외적 천사(external angels)라고 한다. 천국마다 있는 안쪽과 바깥쪽과의 관계는 사람의 의지와 사고력(the voluntary and intellectual) 간의 관계와 같다. 안쪽은 의지, 바깥쪽은 사고에 해당한다. 모든 의지에는 반드시 사고능력이 따르며, 둘은 서로의 존재에 필수적이다. 또 의지는 불꽃에, 사고력은 거기서 나오는 빛에 비유할 수 있다. In each heaven there is an internal and an external; those in the internal are called there internal angels, while those in the external are called external angels. The internal and the external in the heavens, or in each heaven, hold the same relation as the voluntary and intellectual in man—the internal corresponding to the voluntary, and the external to the intellectual. Everything voluntary has its intellectual; one cannot exist without the other. The voluntary may be compared to a flame and the intellectual to the light therefrom.
